Business Planning Workshop
Giving young entrepreneurs the tools they need to become successful business people. This project serves to help young people write business plans which will enable them to transform their futures. We serve to help those with a dream or idea of opening a business to providing them with the tools needed in order to get started. This project branched off of the SIFE winter term trip to Belize. While in Belize, SIFE put on a workshop to help 20 young entrepreneurs turn their ideas onto paper to apply for funding. Through the four day workshop, participants were taught the basics of business including basic accounting, legal and networking topics which will help them in the business world. This semester the Business Plan Workshop team will travel to Des Moines to give a presentation to the Youth Leadership Initiative. There they will help outstanding high school students generate ideas of business and learn the contents and importance of a business plan and perhaps spur on some young entrepreneurs. Shortly following the Des Moines presentation, the team will travel to a technical school in Kansas City and give a detailed presentation to students looking to start a business in the near future. This school is comprised of students who are looking for the opportunity to put their ideas into motion and move forward. Following these presentations the team hopes to host local Lamoni businesses and increase their presents in the community. As well, the business plan workshop would like to make their way into the Lamoni high school and show the importance of resume’s, interview skills and the benefits of being an entrepreneur. Through these activities this project team hopes to motivate young people about their futures and the endless opportunities available. The team is also looking forward to working alongside members of the community to create sustainable businesses.
