The Edison Project
The Edison Team is currently activating a project called Lights Off! When in doubt, turn the light out.
It is a project centered within the faculty that encourages new habits toward turning lights and computers off when not being used. It will run the entire month of March, with a finale on March 31st. Three of our campus buildings, Zimmerman, Platz-Mortimore Science, and Briggs will compete against each other to see who can shut off the lights the most. The faculty that are most successful at shutting off the lights and computers during the month will receive one CFL for each faculty member in the building. The Edison Team will conduct daily random assessments of each building as well as to provide encouragement and extra resources to the faculty to ensure their continued success in the project.
We are also working to create a new mutually beneficial relationship with Home Depot. We are starting with our contacts in the Des Moines area. We hope to work in their businesses to educate shoppers about the benefits of CFL bulbs. We are in the very early stages of developing these relationships and we hope to meet great success.
