Kids Bank

Kids Bank Lessons 1-5

Kids Bank is a program designed to teach fifth grade students about basic banking concepts, focusing on the importance of saving. Graceland SIFE partners with Bank of the West and American State Bank in Lamoni, as well as Lamoni Elementary School to combine lessons and real life banking experience to educate students on the importance of money management. After spending time in the classroom learning about checking and savings accounts, interest and credit cards, students take a field trip to a local bank where they experience first-hand basic banking processes. With parent permission, students also have the opportunity to open their own savings account at one of the local banks with $5 from Graceland SIFE and $5 from American State Bank or Bank of the West. This is an exciting opportunity for students to start positive savings practices at a young age.

This semester, we are working to make this project bigger and more impactful for the students. We are working toward new partnerships with organizations and other universities in order to reach more students and create an even greater impact. We are excited to see the outcome of our new efforts!
