Lamoni Online

Lamoni Online is a SIFE project that strives to improve the business prospects of Lamoni. This project was started in 2007 with the beginning idea of getting local businesses web space in the form of a simple blog. The purpose of this was to bring more outside business into our small community. Today, that idea has grown. Now, in 2008, the Lamoni Online project, with a full-time team of five students now has a new dream- to create a sustainable service for the local community; to help and teach them how to build their own, interactive web site, not just a simple blog, where they can post advertisements and bulletins, along with allowing customer interaction through online orders and purchases, and communication methods such as blogs and e-mail.

So far this year, we have already signed three new local entrepreneurs, and are working hard with them in developing their sites. We have weekly tutor sessions to answer any questions they might have, and are quickly building strong relationships between our team and the local community. Lamoni Online has lots of dreams for our project. We hope to not only bring outside traffic to our small town’s local businesses, but we also want to create a package (perhaps in the form of a DVD or booklet) for other colleges and universities, so that they too, can get their local entrepreneurs up and running online.

The purpose of our project is to help the town’s long-term economic growth, while building relationships between Graceland and the community.
